Many people struggle to maintain a healthy weight / body composition… and simple overeating (ingesting more food than your body needs) is a common culprit.
In one of my older YouTube videos I give one easily-applied strategy for preventing this that involves understanding how the hunger & satiety hormones (leptin & ghrelin) work.
But today I want to give you another one that is, if anything, even easier to put into practice, and — perhaps best of all — doesn’t require ANY extra self-control or willpower on your part!
Here it is:
Drink ~500ml of water before your meal!! (Within 30 minutes or less of eating.)
It’s so simple… yet almost unbelievably effective, as proven in numerous studies.
For example, this study showed that people who drank 500ml of water before a meal ate on average 30% less before saying they were full. “The water preload increased fullness and satisfaction and decreased hunger.”
And this study showed that “consuming 500 ml water prior to each main meal leads to GREATER weight loss than a hypocaloric diet alone” – and the data shows a whopping 50% more weight loss:

Finally, unlike many weight loss strategies, not only is this one perfectly safe with no potential downsides or negative effects (in fact the extra hydration has many additional health benefits)… but it’s also equally effective for all adults — whether you’re old or young, relatively lean or obese, male or female.
Application: If you tend to overeat and/or want to lose weight, drink 500ml of water before any big meals!
